Fumitaka Osakada

Principal researcher, Professor

Research Fields: Predictive processing, Brain-machine interface, Organoid, Neural circuit

Dr. Osakada aims to elucidate the fundamental mechanisms of perception, decision-making, and learning, with a special focus on predictive processing in the brain. He conducts interdisciplinary research with biological and theoretical approaches using mouse and non-human primate models. Additionally, he leverages human neural organoids derived from pluripotent stem cells to constitutively understand the brain. He is also working on the development of a new therapeutic modality using the Brain-Machine Interface (BMI) based on information representation and neural circuit plasticity. Furthermore, he is pioneering innovative techniques that enable multi-scale analysis linking molecules, cells, neural circuits, regions, activities, and behaviors.
